NTPC Ltd reported a strong rise in consolidated net profit for the fourth quarter of FY26, helped by improved operational performance and margin expansion, even as revenue remained largely flat year-on-year.

The state-run power major posted a consolidated net profit of ₹10,615 crore for Q4FY26, up 34.4% from ₹7,897 crore reported in the corresponding quarter last year. The profit figure also came in significantly ahead of analysts’ estimates of around ₹6,441 crore.

Revenue from operations stood at ₹49,688 crore during the quarter, marginally lower than ₹49,834 crore reported a year ago and below analysts’ expectations of ₹52,667 crore. EBITDA rose 3.8% year-on-year to ₹15,321 crore compared to ₹14,754 crore in Q4FY25, while EBITDA margin improved to 30.8% from 29.6% last year. However, EBITDA slightly missed Street estimates of ₹15,707 crore, while margin remained above expectations of 29.8%.

The company’s board recommended a final dividend of ₹3.50 per equity share for FY26.

The results come at a time when NTPC continues to accelerate its expansion across renewable energy, thermal power and emerging energy businesses. Earlier this month, the NTPC Group crossed 90 GW of installed power generation capacity after adding 5,488 MW of renewable energy capacity during FY26 across solar, wind and pumped storage projects.

The company is also scaling up its green energy ambitions through NTPC Green Energy and has outlined plans to add nearly 8 GW of renewable energy capacity in FY27. NTPC currently has nearly 32 GW of projects under construction and is targeting 149 GW total installed capacity by 2032, including 60 GW from renewable sources.

In recent developments, NTPC has also been expanding into nuclear energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), green hydrogen and coal-to-synthetic natural gas projects as part of its long-term diversification strategy.

NTPC shares closed at ₹388.65 on Friday, May 22, down marginally by 0.04% for the day.
