Defence stocks trade mixed on May 14 as MTAR Technologies, IdeaForge and Premier Explosives gain; Kaynes Technology falls 15%

Indian defence sector stocks witnessed mixed movement in early trade on May 14, 2026, with select counters such as MTAR Technologies, IdeaForge Technology, Premier Explosives and Solar Industries posting strong gains, while Kaynes Technology saw a sharp fall.
The broader market traded positive during the early session. As of around 9:35 AM, the Nifty 50 was up 0.65% at 23,564.30, while the S&P BSE Sensex gained 0.56% to 75,027.23.
Among defence-linked stocks, MTAR Technologies was the top performer. The stock rose 6.44% on the BSE to Rs 7,184.05 and gained 8.01% on the NSE to Rs 7,305.
IdeaForge Technology also witnessed strong buying interest, rising 5.06% on the BSE to Rs 810 and 5.95% on the NSE to Rs 817. Premier Explosives gained 5.00% on the BSE to Rs 568.65, while Solar Industries advanced 3.85% to Rs 16,382.70.
Other defence-related stocks that traded higher included Bharat Forge, High Energy, Digilogic Systems, Hindustan Aeronautics, Bharat Electronics and DCX Systems.
On the losing side, Kaynes Technology saw a sharp decline of 15% on both the BSE and NSE to Rs 3,551, making it the biggest loser in the defence basket during the early session.
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers also declined in the range of 2.64% to 3.12%, while Data Patterns was down 1.52% to 1.82%. Stocks such as Cochin Shipyard, Swan Defence and C2C Advanced Systems also traded in the red.
Meanwhile, several other defence counters including Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Bharat Dynamics, Paras Defence and Astra Micro saw limited movement, with small gains or minor declines.
Overall, defence stocks traded mixed on May 14. MTAR Technologies, IdeaForge Technology, Premier Explosives and Solar Industries led the gainers, while Kaynes Technology, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers and Data Patterns remained under pressure.
