Indian stock market exchanges NSE and BSE will remain closed on Thursday, May 28, 2026, on account of Bakri Eid (Id-ul-Zuha).

The holiday applies across equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), and other trading segments.

The clarification comes after the Government of India revised the official holiday for Central Government offices in Delhi and New Delhi from May 27 to May 28 through a notification issued on Friday.

However, the stock exchanges had already designated May 28 as the official Bakri Eid trading holiday in their 2026 holiday calendar released earlier this year. As a result, trading activity will continue normally on Wednesday, May 27, while markets will remain shut on Thursday, May 28.

According to the NSE holiday calendar, Bakri Eid is among the 16 scheduled market holidays for calendar year 2026, alongside Republic Day, Holi, Good Friday, Diwali-Balipratipada, and Christmas.

Commodity derivatives segments may have separate evening trading schedules depending on exchange notifications.
